Days 10 & 11: aversion to meat

The past two days the thought of eating meat has made me want to vomit. Still does a little. I have stuck to salads and fruit and I had scrambled eggs for dinner yesterday. I had planned to eat some leftover chicken for lunch on day 10, but like I said, the thought of eating meat made me want to barf. I don't think it has anything to do with the diet but it is definitely strange because I usually love chicken. I do go through weird food phases sometimes though. Not sure if i have really lost weight, because I don't really want to weigh myself. And I also don't have a scale. I will probably weigh myself at the end of the first cycle.

Days 5 -9

Not so great since I went out of town.

Thursday (day 5) was fine, I just didn't blog since I had kickball!

Friday after work I left for Houston. I was falling asleep after only about an hour and a half on the road, so I stopped for some sugar and caffeine. Diet Coke and Peanut Butter M&Ms are definitely not on the diet!

Since I was in Kingwood, of course I had to go to the hometown favorite Chelsea Deli & Cafe. A chicken salad sandwich on french bread is also definitely not on the diet. :/ We ate a super early dinner (because my parents are ridiculous) at another sandwich place and topped it off with TCBY yogurt! This day was pretty much a total loss.

Sunday was a loss too: bacon & eggs for brunch and a subway sandwich later in the day. It was turkey bacon, so I guess that was good.

Today I had more Diet Coke and m&ms to keep me awake on the drive home. For dinner I made some chicken with some BBQ seasoning.

Sooo I am thinking about extending the first 17 days to 20 days since I have been doing poorly the past few days.

Day 4 - Not good

Today was not very good. I did well most of the day at work, but then I had another of those slim fast bars after lunch, and then another one later in the day, probably around 5. I also had a couple pieces of candy from a coworker's candy dish on her desk. Ugh.

Then I met up with friends at a mexican restaurant. I did well with my entree - I ordered marinated grilled chicken breast and I didn't eat any of the rice that came with it. I also didnt get a margarita, even though it was happy hour and I LOVE margaritas. Yay me!

I bad part was the chips and bean dip that was on the table. I looove the bean dip at this restaurant. Its so good. So I ate more of that than I probably should have.

Oh well, back on track tomorrow!!

Day 3

Day 3 went ok I guess. I finally weighed myself at the gym today and it was pretty much my normal weight. The book says that you'll lose weight right away, and maybe I have because i don't doubt that I was heavier on Sunday. I had NOT been eating well AT ALL. I'm not worried, but I hope I see the scale go down soon!

Today I drank my hot lemon water in the AM and I had greek yogurt and some berries for breakfast. Then I had another salad for lunch. I did have another one of those slim fast mint-chocolate 100 calories bars after lunch. Oops. I have having trouble completely ignoring my sweet tooth!

I never did have my second serving of fruit, but I had my first experience with cottage cheese for my second probiotic serving! I bought the kind they recommend in the book - Breakstone Live Active cottage cheese. I didnt hate it, but I didnt love it either. I put a couple blueberries in it, and maybe I should put a lot more in there next time. I don't know if I will ever become a cottage cheese lover.

For dinner I cooked some ground turkey with some taco seasoning and made lettuce wrap type- things. I put some bell peppers, mushrooms, and sour cream on them too. They were very tasty!

I also found some low carb yogurt at Kroger that I like. Its store brand called CARBmaster.

Tomorrow will be tricky since I might be going out to dinner with some friends, to a Mexican restaurant. I looked at the menu already and hopefully if I go I can stick to getting the salad! I do love me some mexican food!

Day 2

Today I drank most of the hot lemon water in the morning. I am generally not a fan of hot beverages or even soup, but the fact that its just water makes it a teeny bit more appealing.

For breakfast I had a peach and a lemon flavored greek yogurt. I dont think I will be having the lemon flavor anymore, or at least not for breakfast. It tasted like the lemon flavored girl scout cookies I like, so maybe I will have it for a dessert.

For lunch I had another spinach salad with chicken...same as yesterday.

I had to squeeze my second serving of fruit in before 2pm, so I had some strawberries & blueberries a little after lunch.

As of 4pm I have drank all 64 oz of water that I am supposed to drink each day, and let me tell you, I have had to pee every 20 minutes!

I did cheat a little and I ate a 100 calorie slim fast mint-chocolate bar. I feel bad about it, but I was pretty much the highlight of my day!

Dinner I think will be more chicken and more salad. Im also going to go buy some cottage cheese...I hope I like it. I've never had it before!

17 Day Diet

So I started the 17 Day Diet yesterday, and I want to keep track of myself, so I am going to use this blog.

I dont have a starting weight because I dont own a scale. I planned to weigh today at work (yes we have a scale at work, weird) but the scale here is broken or out of batteries or something.

I did pretty good yesterday. I got all my fruits in before 2pm, and my probiotics. I had a salad for lunch with spinach, chicken, tomatoes, mushrooms and fat free dressing. Then I made a variation of the egg white frittata that is in the book for dinner. I used 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites instead off 4 egg whites. I put spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and bell peppers in it and sprinkled a little bit of Parmesan cheese on top.

Yesterday I did not get all my water in or drink the hot lemon water in the morning.

TVless

I have no TV to keep me occupied, so I just thought I'd take this time to complain that I have no TV now. My apartment got broken into, DURING THE DAY, and they stole my TV, laptop, the box the laptop came in, and my spare car key.

I left my apartment at about 6:45 am on Monday, and got back at 5:45 to find that my patio door had been pried open with some crobar or something and my stuff was gone. I am sad about my TV, but I am really sad about my netbook that I had only had for a couple of months. Since they stole the box the netbook came in too I bet it'll make it a lot easier to sell somewhere.

Then there is the spare car key that normally sat on my bookshelf. Its not there anymore. Of course it is the kind of key that has the clicker thing attached to it, so all they would have to do is know approximately where my car would be parked and push the button and my lights will conveniently flash for them! YAY! Luckily I now have somewhere else to park my car so it SHOULDN'T be a problem.

No one else got broken into and I think the burglars were around and saw me leave. Haven't been able to talk to any neighbors yet to see if they heard or saw anything. Aaaaaaargh! Really can't believe this, it makes me soooooo angry. Who breaks into an apartment in BROAD DAYLIGHT?!?!

So now I sit here in silence and I have fired up the ole desktop. She's a slow starter but once she's on she's fine as long as you don't stress her out too much. Internets only, skype is a little rough and if you need to open itunes you are pretty much gonna be sitting here all night. Luckily I always bring my ipod to work with me so I still have it and have been listening to the podcasts. I have pretty much listened to everything though, so it looks like I will have to try to fire up iTunes tomorrow. :-/
